"Live Death Doom", the new DVD and double CD from the reformed Dutch death metal outfit ASPHYX, will be released through Century Media Records on the following dates: Germany, Austria, Switzerland: Friday, August 27 Spain, Italy : Tuesday, August 31 Sweden, Finland, Hungary: Wednesday, September 1 Rest Of Europe: Monday, August 30 With a total playing time of approximayely 225 minutes, "Live Death Doom" will contain ASPHYX's two-hour-plus July 4, 2009 performance in Essen, Germany as well as a one-hour-plus documentary about the history of ASPHYX and "tons of krushing additional bonus material. The main live show's audio (which is the same as the CD content) was mixed and mastered by producer Dan Swanö (BLOODBATH, EDGE OF SANITY), who had previously worked with ASPHYX on the band's 2009 comeback album, "Death...The Brutal Way". The glorious "Live Death Doom" old-school artwork was created by Axel Hermann, who was also responsible for the artwork on the group's classic 1990s releases. The DVD was coordinated and edited by Oliver "Bomber" Barth. A trailer for the DVD can be viewed below. Commented the band: "So, finally, after over 23 years, here's the first ASPHYX live album. And our dedicated fans worldwide who've experienced us live know what that means: Heavy old-school death doom metal played the way it was meant to be…and still should be today! Headbanging, grinning, drooling, spitting, sweating, passion, loud volume, stagediving, beer, honesty and brutality. No makeup or fancy queercostumes, no superfluous attributes, no technical rubbish, no compromises. This is how we are, this is how we want you to have us! "We are very proud of this release. Very damn fuckin' proud, as this is exactly us! We would never have brought it out if we weren't 100% behind it…but it would never have been possible without our incredible loyal fans, of which we are even more proud! "We'll see you all somewhere, sometime again at one of our shows on this planet and then raise our beers and horns together." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlUu63w5PRY&feature=player_embedded

Sumerian thrashing black metallers MELECHESH have set "The Epigenesis" as the title of their fifth album, due later in the year via Nuclear Blast Records. The 11-song effort was recorded in the newly built Babajim Studios in Istanbul, Turkey and was mixed by Reuben de Lautour and mastered by Pieter Snapper. Commented mainman and founding member Ashmedi: "As I have mentioned earlier, we wanted to defy the norm and record eastwards rather than remain in Europe. This was mainly due to the inspiring surrounding we found in Istanbul as well as the high quality of the studio and gracious staff. "This city is a mesh of east and west and had a very long tradition of rock music. "['The Epigenesis' is the result of] two months of grueling work and very long hours. "We took a risk and it paid off; the outcome is phenomenal! The production is very dynamic and big! "The album is definitely MELECHESH and as always unlike its predecessors and we as a band are exactly where we want to be at this point in time. "There are several moods on the album, from very aggressive raw songs with minimal riffs to ritualistic near eastern metal opuses, one of which is a 12-minute song that combines Mid-Eastern music, psychedelic rock and metal. "On one third of the album we have used 12-string electric guitars for the main rhythm riffing. We have included two instrumental compositions with completely different moods as well. "Lyrically, the album deals with several themes within the spheres of MELECHESH, such as Sumerian/Mesopotamian/Anunnakian themes, as well as other occult near-eastern and cosmological philosophies and ideas. Nevertheless, the lyrics do have dual meanings that are to some extent subliminal and can relate to one's own life journey, but that's for the individual to figure out. As for traditional instruments, we subtly included several instruments such as Baglama Saz, Tanbour, Persian Santur, Ney, Indian Sitar, Azeri Tar, Bindir… I say subtly because we definitely wanted the album to be metal…. Sumerian thrashing black metal."

InsideCostaRica.com reports that Costa Rica's Catholic church is calling for respect from the Swedish "black metal" band MARDUK, who will be making an appearance in Costa Rica next week. MARDUK has been strongly criticized by religious groups for its anti-Christian lyrics and even branding the band as "satanic." Mario Segura, Catholic priest and spokesperson for the Curia Metropolitana, said "they should have more respect because they are sacred things," referring to the band's use of religious articles, like an inverted cross in its album cover art. Segura said he considers that this type of music and message cannot encourage any good in Costa Rica's youth. MARDUK will be in Costa Rica on July 29 at the Pepper Disco Club (formerly The City). The band last made an appearance in Costa Rica in 2003. EM3 Producciones, promoter of the event, said the Thursday show is for those 18 years of age and over and that the band will not be performing any type of ritual on stage, just perform its music. German power metallers HELLOWEEN have set "7 Sinners" as the title of their new album, tentatively due in late October. The CD was recorded at singer Andi Deris' Mi Sueno Studios in Tenerife, Spain. The band wrote more than 20 songs and selected the best ideas with longtime producer Charlie Bauerfeind. HELLOWEEN bass player Markus Grosskopf previously stated about the band's new material: "For all those out there who found our special best-of [CD] 'Unarmed' to be too smooth and calm, I have a great news: The new album will hit you right in the face! It's gonna be very heavy and contain all HELLOWEEN trademarks! Some songs are very powerful and hymnic, others contain the fastest bass-drum patterns our drummer Dani [Löble] ever played, and this means a lot!"

As part of the ongoing celebration of their 20th anniversary, Swedish progressive metallers OPETH will release live footage and audio from the band's recent performance at London's famed Royal Albert Hall. "In Live Concert at the Royal Albert Hall", due on September 21 via Roadrunner Records, is a fierce testament to OPETH's continued success in the progressive metal community. Twenty years and nine records into their legendary career, OPETH's "progressively creative spirit" (ARTISTdirect) remains unwavering, propelling the band through the "Evolution XX: An Opeth Anthology" tour, which brought the Swedish titans to six of the world's most unique venues, and now, with the release of "In Live Concert At The Royal Albert Hall", into the homes of their fans. The performance at the Royal Albert Hall (recorded on April 5, 2010) includes two sets, the first consisting of the band performing 2000's now-classic, breakthrough epic "Blackwater Park" in its entirety, and the second, a chronologically arranged selection of material from the rest of OPETH's extensive catalogue, totaling almost three hours of music. It is, like the rest of OPETH's greatest work, "purposefully warped in all the right places" (Decibel). The front cover artwork concept pays tribute to DEEP PURPLE's "Concerto for Group and Orchestra", underlining the band's longstanding love for their prog-rock roots. Thinking back to the concert, frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt says "OPETH had a magical night playing the Royal Albert Hall. It was a dream come true, and now afterwards, it still feels like a dream. We got it all on film, and this, our third live recording and DVD, might be my personal favorite. "One couldn't help to think of all the fantastic artists that played there over the years. Looking back at this night of celebration brings me fond memories of our 20th anniversary — this package is the delayed birthday present." The release will be available as three very special configurations: 01. Limited-edition vinyl box set, which includes: * Double-DVD set of OPETH's performance at the legendary Royal Albert Hall, in its entirety, including bonus features. * A set of four 180-gram LPs of the concert's live audio in its entirety. The vinyl is housed in black poly lined inner sleeves which are packaged as two double gatefold set with exclusive artwork. Vinyl only available in this box set. * Exclusive, numbered lithograph with artwork designed by Mikael Åkerfeldt and longtime OPETH designer Travis Smith. * 20-page, LP sized booklet printed on coated paper stock that chronicles the night's events in photos. * Expanded, exclusive artwork and more. 02. Five-disc set that consists of two DVDs and three CDs. The set not only includes the legendary evening captured on video, but the concert's live audio in its entirety as well. 03.
