For Mircalla Debut from Briton Rites, new project of Howie Bentley (Cauldron Born) and Phil Swanson (Seamount, Hour of 13...) Deeply inspired by classic NWOBHM bands like Witchfinder General, or (obviously) Black Sabbath, For Mircalla is a riff-feast of epic proportions, with a thick, fuzzy guitar sound ripping out killer old-school riffs and solos. Bentley is all about chugging, ultra-heavy guitars and a pervasive atmosphere of doom and darkness. This is like a distillation of old Sabbath, Gothic Horror fiction, and Hammer movies all stirred in together. There is a solid NWOBHM flair to the sound, but the recording is very slick and clear and it's obvious that Bentley's long experience allows him to get just the right tone. I was concerned about Phil Swanson on vocals, as his voice is a bit iffy, and sometimes he can sound out of place. His voice is particular and only fits certain kinds of music, fortunately, that is this kind of music. I could wish for someone with a darker and deeper voice, but he works.

@Miilos Evo preleteo sam ovaj bend sto si preporucio, jebiga, ja bas pratim ovu temu i skidam gotovo sve sto ljudi postave, bas volim da cujem sta se sve fura, ali ovo...kao prvo nema ni a od raw bm-a, ne volim da ja sad tu nesto pametujem ali meni je ovo bilo strasno dosadno, ne znam zasto (mozda sam ja lud, npr. poslednji Ondskapt album mi je jako smesan a bend rastura, u poredjenju sa onim sto su pravili ranije, i slusam ih u zadnja 2-3 dana k'o nenormalan), dobija dobre kritike od nekih ljudi ovde a i po ostalim recenzijama. Nema veze, zato i volim bm, jedini pravac de mi samo gut radi (to i old school death i doom). Primetio sam da slabo ima "albuma" u poslednje vreme, ameri preuzimaju primat cak i u ovom pravcu, ja to sve slusam i odgovara mi, jer sam fanatik, ali nema vise albuma koji ce se slusati nedeljama kao da nista vise ne postoji oni su vec napravljeni (mene vadi jedino Katharsis sa neverovatnim fourth reichom i nista losiji Antaeus a tu je i Ondskapt, koji se jos drzi, Ofermod i da ne nabrajam) ovo sve ostalo je pucanj u prazno, a ne vidim da se nesto novo sprema, ako je Orcivus taj neki trip, i'll pass (pre neki dan sam obrnuo novi merrimack - jako dobro, pa glorior belli sa sothern sign-om, odlicno, e tu je i temple of baal), jebiga opet ce francuzi da nam serviraju revoluciju, a mi jos gluplji nego sto smo bili O tempora, o mores!
