Soon after his birth his family moved to the riverside community of Oulunkylä, where his father eventually opened a porn shop; during his late teens Ville spent a period working in the shop before launching his career in music. As a child he was influenced by his music-loving parents, who exposed him to the songs of popular Finnish performers such as Tapio Rautavaara and Rauli Badding Somerjoki, while an older cousin introduced him to the heavier sounds of bands like Kiss, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden. His interests gradually expanded to include reggae, early blues and country-oriented material such as Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and Neil Young. (1986-89), Eloveena Boys (1987-88), Kemoterapia (1989-97) and numerous other, more obscure projects. In 1995 Valo enlisted old schoolmates Mikko ('Lilly Lazer') Lindstrom and Mikko ('Migé Amour') Heinrik -- augmented by drummer Juhana Rantala and keyboardist Antto Melasniemi -- to form His Infernal Majesty, a band that blended a goth-drag presentation with heavy metal, ambiguous mysticism and dark, fatalistic romanticism (a combination that would ultimately earn the media tag of 'love metal'). The name was later shortened to HIM when it became apparent that the rather Satanic implications of the full title were attracting the wrong crowd. With the release of their debut EP 666 Ways To Love: Prologue in 1996, the band began to cultivate an dedicated audience in Finland -- largely as a result of an interpretation of Chris Isaak's Wicked Game that was featured on the record. This audience expanded to include the other Scandinavian countries the following year, after their first full-length Greatest Love Songs Volume 666 hit the shelves; once again, the album included their popular version of Wicked Game, as well as a cover of Blue Oyster Cult's Don't Fear The Reaper. Enlisting the services of British producer John Fryer (known in the 80s for his work for the 4AD label, and later for work with goth-leaning bands such as Nine Inch Nails and Cradle of Filth), HIM released their second album Razorblade Romance in 2000, the track Join Me In Death in particular breaking the band across Europe. The album also gave them their first proper US release, but with a slight hiccup: due to the pre-existence of an American project called 'HIM', the record was initially given a limited release under the modified name 'HER'. The name problem was subsequently settled through the movement of currency, and the album re-issued in its proper form. By their third effort, Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights (2001), the band's line-up had settled down to the original trio of Valo, Linde (Lilly), Migé with drummer Mika ('Gas Lipstick') Karppinen and keyboardist Jani ('Emerson Burton') Purttinen; that same year, the original three also shuffled their musical roles and created the side-project Daniel Lioneye, in which Linde assumed the role of frontman. A fourth album Love Metal arrived in 2003, expanding the popularity of HIM even further and providing music journalists with a convenient tag for their approach. For it's 2005 follow-up Dark Light, production duties were assumed by veteran Andy Wallace, but after unsatisfactory results the band turned to U2, Robert Plant, Tears for Fears, (etc.) producer Tim Palmer. Intervju: How are you? Ville: Fine thank you. I'm back in Finland for the first time in a while. I’ve had time to relax and to meet my friends. Were going to the studio for a week to rehearse the songs for the upcoming album and on Saturday we will travel to Budapest. How did it all begun? Ville: I heard the debut of Black Sabbath as a teenager and decided to become a singer. Do you have people harassing you? Ville: Nothing too serious, only phone harassers. Are you religious? Ville: No. Even at school I studied ethics instead of religion. Do you have a pet? Ville: No, because I'm allergic and never at home. Or a girlfriend? Ville: Many. One magazine brought up Susanna's name, but she’s just one of my women. The time you were most drunk? Ville: I was drunk for the second time in my life on junior high and that was a bad one! I think I passed out... Have you got any near to death experiences? Ville: I've got asthma. When I was 17 I forgot to take my medication and was taken to a hospital for almost two weeks. After that I’ve taken better care of my illness. Do you only smoke because of your image? Ville: I'm a huge fan of James Dean, that got me started. Nowadays I smoke four packs in a day. How fluently do you speak Swedish? (It’s compulsory in Finland to study Swedish at school) Ville: My school grade was 4 (on a scale from 1-10), so I speak it poorly. Your apartment? Ville: It's in the centre of Helsinki and really untidy. Because of my interest in collecting things the floors are full of stuff. What was the last book you read? Ville: A book about Janis Joplin. I love reading biographies. On what do you spend your money? Ville: On junk. I'm a collecting maniac and I buy a lot of books and records. I have over thousand cds. So I basically collect shit. Last time I was in Reeperbahn I bought a Elvis-phone that plays Jailhouse Rock! The lyrics of Join Me are said to provoke youth into committing suicide. Ville: Art is always criticized and always an outsider gets the blame. I'm not saying that I'm Shakespeare or something, but if his Romeo and Juliet would be published nowadays it would probably be banned. Join Me and other songs on Razorblade Romance deal with my feelings from the summer of 1999 and the life of our band then. The death only works as an metaphor. What wouldn't you give up for any price? Ville: Migé gave me this Jesus-painting from the beginning of the century. I hanged it on the best place of my wall. Are you going to act in a movie? Ville: I have never acted in one and I’m not at all interested to do so either. Though I've never gotten any offers to perform in one either.... Do you like Finnish music? Ville: Very much. Jari Sillanpää is great at what he does (a Finnish tango artist). I've never met the guy and I wouldn't sing his songs because he can do it a lot better himself. Do you know any celebrities? Ville: I know Henry Saari (He’s a Finnish porn star). He’s a great guy, I even went to his birthday party. Would you do a porn film or pose for nude photos? Ville: Under no circumstances! I'll leave that to Henry. How does it feel like to put some make-up on? Ville: The guys in Kiss use some make up too so at first it was exiting. I've almost stopped using make-up nowadays. You're going to studio. When have you had time to write the songs? Ville: I'm a workaholic. When the other guys wedge out on the couch and watch telly on their days off I fool around with the guitar and try new melodies out. I've made 11 new songs while touring. What does your dream woman look like? Ville: Beautiful of course. Women are always beautiful. Are you playing some kind of Ville Valo-role? Ville: No. This is not some built up thing. I’m me all the way. I don’t have time to think about which role should I play today. What kind of exercise do you do? Ville: I walk to get my mind at ease, sort of a brain exercise. I really don’t have time for yoga and other exercises anymore. What's best in being a rock star? Ville: I'm living my dream right now. I get to make music, perform and travel. I haven't travelled that much before so this is the first time I get to see the big cities of Europe. I've never even been to US. Where would you like to travel? Ville: To Lapland. I have never been there and I'd love to see the night less night. What do you eat? Ville: Anything. I don't eat meat on tour, because it is too heavy. I wouldn't be able to move my hips on stage if I'd eat those heavy foods. Ethiopian food is really good. It's a bit like Nepalian food in which you dip breads into different sauces. How do you relax? Ville: This can sound kinky but I only relax at work. Either on a gig or rehearsing with the band. I get total peace of mind on gigs. What does it feel like to be an idol? Ville: I myself am a huge fan of the gothic band Fields of Nephilim and collect posters of them. I understand my fans well. How do you feel about drugs? Ville: Negatively. What do you regret? Ville: Yesterdays drinking. I drank a bit too much of absinthe with my friends. Absinthe was once the favourite drink of existential poets. What is the part of alcohol in your life? Ville: I drink a lot but I'm not an alcoholic. I've started to drink less of my favourite drink red wine, because it affects my singing voice . Your dream car? Ville: I should have to get a drivers license first. One of those 50´s mortuary cars would be cool. You've become rich with the success. Ville: Well, I get enough to pay the bills and there’s still something left. I’m not saving for anything because I haven’t been able to figure out a reasonable thing to save on. Are you going to stay in Finland? Ville: Not necessarily. Paris might be an interesting place to live in, because it would be easy to get anywhere from there. Do you still dream about a family? Ville: I don't even like children that much. I just want this dream to continue: to be a rock star and to tour. I also dream about making a perfect record.

Tako mi Lucifera, HIM je bio dobar prva dva albuma a onda iz Vilu & ekipi poznatih razloga dolazi do totalnog prosera i obilne povrshnosti. I stigli su do djubreta kao sto je And love said no, Love metala etc. Savrsheno za Top of the pops i publiku u vidu debelih maloletnih fenserki koje jure skejtere (Zahvaljujuci Bamu prosecni skejter u SAD uziva u NU i Love metalu). Propast, kako i muzichki tako i vizuelno. Nema potrebe da komentarishem omiljenu nam pikslu. Razvojni put : E da glas mu je prosecan a sad je sve gori i gori...FUJ. Kad ce vishe da otegne papke...
