Serj Tankian, the group's lead singer, recently said that the group would consider performing in Eurovision only if they would be allowed to use Eurovision as a means to advance the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. "Eurovision would be an excellent way to make this theme known. We must seriously think of this." Tankian said. System Of A Down, which has been advocating for Armenian Genocide recognition since its early garage band days is noted for the liberal political views expressed in their songs.
