Talvi Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 In the late 19th century, an inexperienced doctor performed his first surgery n a room full of people. Feeling the pressure, he felt the need to perform the amputation in the quickest time possible, and ended up amputating his patient’s arm in the space of around 25 seconds. In the process of this, he accidentally amputated his assistant’s fingers too. Both patient and assistant died of sepsis, and a spectator died from shock, making it the only operation ever with a 300% mortality rate.

Face Of Melinda Posted February 13, 2016 Author Report Posted February 13, 2016 This is What Music Would Look Like if We Could See It "Each note seems to have its own unique fingerprint, a unique ‘signature’. The most impressive thing is that recent experiments showed that dolphins are able to recognize words based on these “signatures” by using them in some unknown way. The CymaScope device records vibrations produced by every single sound on the surface of distilled water. Due to the high surface tension of the water, the vibrations caused by the harmonics of a sound leave a perfectly visible “mark”." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRyCS746j2Q

Oak Posted March 2, 2016 Report Posted March 2, 2016 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prjhQcqiGQc Ants can sometimes get caught in a phenomenon called a spiral of death, in which the entire colony can become lost and disoriented and march in circles until they die of exhaustion. Because certain species of ants are essentially blind, they navigate by following pheromone trails left behind by other members of their colony; they use these scent markers to identify food supplies and find their way home. However, should enough of them lose the scent, they will begin to follow the ant immediately in front of them, forming an enormous death spiral in which they will essentially commit suicide. 1
