Talvi Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 North Carolina doom metallers HOUR OF 13 introduced veteran vocalist Ben Hogg (BIRDS OF PREY, BEATEN BACK TO PURE) during a New York City concert this past Saturday night. He and the band played a powerful set to a packed crowd all there to celebrate the band's recent reissue of "The Ritualist", a modern classic of doom metal. Ben performed superbly and gave the band a stronger presence that will no doubt make the band a force to be reckoned with as widespread touring plans are falling into place in 2011. HOUR OF 13 guitarist and founder Chad Davis recently had this to say about Ben Hogg: "HOUR OF 13 could not be more pleased with the dedication and amount of work Ben has shown. He is a valuable talent to have in the band. He is a vital presence that we were needing in the fold and thanks to him, we are stronger and more focused than ever." Shortly before HOUR OF 13's NYC appearance, the audio of Ben Hogg singing to some of the band's best songs during a rehearsal session was posted at this location. Formed by guitarist/vocalist Stevie Floyd and drummer Rob Shaffer in 2006, DARK CASTLE are quite the entity in the doom metal scene, in a way that they manage to create such a heavy and monstrous wall of sound merely through minimalistic requirements at their disposal (essentially just vocals, guitars, drums and a lot of amplifier abuse). With already having several hundred shows under their belt, the duo would end up with a reputation as one of the heaviest and most crushing live acts within the doom/sludge metal scene (DARK CASTLE have toured with such acclaimed acts as Baroness, Kylesa, Nachtmystium, Zoroaster, Black Tusk, and The Atlas Moth just to name a few) even getting tagged at times as the doom metal equivalent to The White Stripes. With their “Spirited Migration” debut making its rounds amongst DARK CASTLE’s endless touring jaunts, it is with “Surrender To All Life Beyond Form” which sees DARK CASTLE create a much heavier, darker, more diverse, experimental, and ultimately their most immense and extreme sounding work to date. Captured and recorded by Sanford Parker, whose engineering and production skills have given DARK CASTLE the sound and production they’ve been yearning to conjure within the studio walls, a sound which reflects the unrelenting atmosphere and vibe of their live show. Taj Blood Ceremony je tolko dojaja da je to neverovatno! I taj Dark Castle ultra obecava. I ko nije poslusao US Christmas - Run Thick in the Night, ne zna sta propusta. Neverovatan album. Znao sam i ja da radi kao geneteski inzenjer, ali sam se bas prijatno obradovao kada sam video da je neko bas postavio sajt firme u kojoj radi, a jos je i predsednik te firme. Kuja izdala ja metal, nista joj u biografiji ne pise o njenim vokalnim sposobnostima u metal bendovima. XD Quote
