the road in October 2014, Touché Amoré’s Jeremy Bolm received a call from his family back in southern California: His mother had lost her battle with cancer. The devastating news came at an already-pivotal moment for the L.A. post-hardcore outfit. Having released their anthemic, polished Is Survived By LP not long ago, Touché Amoré were preparing to meet some of their largest crowds yet: as musicians, but now also as motivational speakers. When we grieve, it can be damn near impossible to convince ourselves to smile, let alone to instruct others to do the same. But Bolm channels his pain to help the audience rise above its own.
