Kai Hansen Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 RIPPER ipak nije sigurno pevac iced-a a mozda nece uopste i biti! Everyone in the metal community was ecstatic about the announcement, as unsurprising as it was, that former Judas Priest vocalist, Tim 'Ripper' Owens, had found a home in Iced Earth, so quickly after his ouster. When BW&BK contacted Owens, simply to congratulate him on the positive change of fortune, a rather cryptic reply came: "Thanks, but to make it clear, I didn't join the band! I just did the vocals, and I really love the stuff. I really want to put my own stuff together. We shall see." That left the puzzle unsolved, as we all were led to believe this was the missing piece. From his friendly, but terse reply, it would appear there were no live dates in the offing, or future commitments. That didn't seem right. So BW&BK went straight to the source, Jon Schaffer. Lo and behold, the comments were not another smokescreen (of which there's been entirely too much of lately). "Tim was hired to do the vocals for the record only. Two days after we finished, he lost his gig with Priest. Obviously this changes things and maybe he will be the new guy someday in the future, but right now he needs some time to figure out what he's going to do." "There will come a time when I will decide to look for a permanent singer in the near future, if Tim can't commit. I hired Tim to do this record knowing that he had the ability to do the parts that I'd written and that was the extent of it. I would love to have Tim as the new frontman in Iced Earth, but he's got to want it or it's no good for anyone involved. He's going through a big change in his life and I will give him some time to figure out what he wants for his future career, but obviously we can't wait forever." "Either way, Iced Earth will carry on in the same tradition as always. I feel great and am very, very optimistic for the band's future, no matter who ends up in the vocal position. I will find the right guy and maybe it is Tim; time will tell. This record has brought about a new beginning for the band and fate will take its course!" The Glorious Burden, with Tim Owens on vocals, is scheduled to be released through the band's new label, SPV. Quote
DragonHeart Posted August 20, 2003 Author Report Posted August 20, 2003 Tim Owens je ipak postao i zvanicno novi clan ICED EARTH-a! Posted by Jon Schaffer on Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at 11:43PM : Greetings! Well everyone, it is official. Tim Owens is the new frontman and lead vocalist of Iced Earth and I couldn't be happier! There is no doubt that fate has played a big part in our lives in these last few months and I truly beleive that this is the way it was meant to be. Everything happens for a reason!! Tim did an outstanding job on this record. In 5 very relaxed days he nailed the parts, and I mean NAILED them, and I don't think I've ever laughed as much and had as much fun in the studio before. He is definitely bringing new life into the band and the future looks very bright for us as a team. Tim knows who he is, what he stands for and is very dedicated; and he's funny as hell, all very important traits! One of the greatest things about all of it is that The Glorious Burden is a new beginning. I'm very, very excited to see what Tim and I can do together as a writing team. There is real chemistry between the two of us and I'm 100% confident that I.E.'s best work is in our future. I feel like I'm 10 years younger and am having more fun than I've ever had before. I see us having a very long and fullfilling career together! The art is done and the layouts are almost there and before you know it the best Iced Earth album to date will be unleashed. In my opinion, nothing we've ever done comes close to "The Glorious Burden". It is by far the best album so far, in all ways, writing, performance and spirit. It is now the way it was meant to be! On another bit of news my historical collectibles shop is now open. We are open Friday & Saturday 10:00am to 8:00pm and Sunday 10:00am to 6:00pm. It is truly one of the most unique places in the country. If you love history, art, miniatures, models, battlefield relics, etc.. you've got to come and see Spirit of '76 Collectibles. The website is in the works and you can get a good look at the shop and a sample of our products at www.spirit-of-76.com. The site is being handled by Todd Brown and he's working on it pretty steadily so try to check back often. Look for Iced Earth on our "Glorious World Tour" starting in early 2004. I'm so psyched I can hardly wait!! The Revolution Is Closer Than Ever Before!! Later, Jon Quote
painkiller666 Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Vocalist Matt Barlow has announced his departure from ICED EARTH in order to pursue a career doing administrative work for the Department of Homeland Security. The following is Barlow's official statement on the matter: "In December of last year' date=' prior to ICED EARTH signing a new record deal, [iCED EARTH mainman'] Jon [schaffer] and I had a sit-down concerning what I felt was best for my future and the future of ICED EARTH. I told him that my heart was no longer into performing music and I intended to stand down from my position in the band in pursuit of what I felt would be a more satisfying career and consequently a more fulfilled life. Jon was very adamant that I should not leave the band, and asked me not to do something that I might live to regret. I was compelled to stay with it, but as it turns out my course had remained altered. "For you to understand my position on this matter, I feel I must explain myself. As for many people, in and outside of the United States, the events of September 11, 2001 had a profound impact. For me personally, it shined a new light on life. It forced me to realize how precious and how short life is. I feel very fortunate to have been a part of something that has affected so many throughout the world, but I believe that what I am striving for will also reflect positively on those I come in contact with. "I am presently going to school in order to obtain my Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration. When I have received my degree, I intend to follow with a career in law enforcement administration. "I realize that it may be difficult for some of you to understand the decision that has been made, but please believe that it has been made to preserve the integrity of ICED EARTH. I know that there will be people who bad-mouth the band and me for this and that there will never be a good enough explanation. For those people, I feel pity that they must live through others and I hope that someday they will find themselves in another place. I have been on a great ride with all of you and I have not a single regret. There are great things to come from ICED EARTH and we will all be there to witness them. I wish Jon and the guys well and I thank you in advance for your support and understanding. "Best wishes, "Matt" nek se jebe glupa budala....prosvetlio ga dogadjaj...ma nek se nosi... bas me iznervirao... ali sta ces nek radi sta oce Quote

DragonHeart Posted October 3, 2003 Author Report Posted October 3, 2003 Indiana-based heavy metal specialists ICED EARTH have recently completed what can be deemed as nothing short of a masterwork; a ten song musical enterprise honoring the valor and sacrifices that made the world what it is today. Tailgunner Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 Chovek sa izuzetnim vokalnim sposobnostima...jedan od najboljih danashnjice. Shteta za Iced Earth. Quote
Quote

DragonHeart Posted December 2, 2003 Author Report Posted December 2, 2003 ICED EARTH mainman Jon Schaffer has posted the following message on the band's official web site: "Season's Greetings! "First of all, please accept my apology for the delay in this posting. These last 3 months have been extremely busy and I've been pretty overwhelmed with the workload. However, everything came to a screeching halt a few weeks back when I had lower back surgery. Everything's going well and I'm healing just fine, so in another few weeks I'll be as good as new. "Anyway, there is actually quite a lot to report, so let's get to it! "First, as you all know by now, the CD release has been delayed to early January. I know this has upset many fans and I wasn't happy about it myself, but when the label explained their reasons I couldn't argue with them. Because of the fact that we had to re-record the vocals and re-mix the record it pushed everything back and the label would have had to perform a miracle to do their job properly. It takes time and a lot of organization to release a priority record and they just wanted to do the best job possible, so as I said, I couldn't really argue the point. Believe me, we want you to hear the new tunes ASAP, but sometimes shit happens and we all have to live with it. "It is an absolute pleasure to report that the response so far from journalists that have heard the CD has been very positive. We all expect big things for this record and that should make all I.E. fans proud. [singer] Tim [Owens, ex-JUDAS PRIEST] and I did a 2-week whirlwind promo tour of Europe and it was a great time Quote
DragonHeart Posted December 2, 2003 Author Report Posted December 2, 2003 ICED EARTH's video for the track "When Eagle Cries (Unplugged)" is available for viewing in streaming media at http://launch.yahoo.com/artist/videos.asp?...rtistID=1012629. "When Eagle Cries (Unplugged)" comes off the group's recently issued four-song single, "The Reckoning (Don't Tread On Me)", which was made available through the band's new label, SPV Records. A full-band version of the song will be included on the group's ninth full-length album, "The Glorious Burden", due on January 13, 2004. Quote
